Body imaging
Adrenal Chemical-Shift (MRI)
Adrenal signal-intensity index (SII) from in-phase and opposed-phase signal, quantifying signal drop from microscopic (intracytoplasmic) fat. SII above ~16.5% indicates a lipid-rich adenoma.

Formula
SII = (SI in-phase − SI opposed-phase) ÷ SI in-phase × 100.

Disclaimer
Chemical-shift MRI detects microscopic fat and cannot reliably characterise lipid-poor adenomas, pheochromocytomas, or metastases; a lack of signal drop is non-specific. Use field-strength–appropriate technique and correlate clinically.
